“The goal of education [should be] wisdom and virtue and preparing citizens to pass on a culture from one generation to the next and less about just job training or getting test scores or achievement,” [Keith] Nix said. “If you have a good school, those things do happen, but the goal ought to be about something bigger, longer-term, more beautiful — the kind of human beings that we’re cultivating.”

Book Review: An Educator’s Perspective on The Social ExperimentCalled Critical Race Theory by Jeremy Adams at Daily Wire. The most brilliant section of the book is [Dr. Ernest J. Zarra’s] exploration of what awaits a society with these aims in mind. His central insight is that CRT is a backdoor to a form of soft autocracy in which “equality of humanity” is replaced by “equity by government.” American equality is rooted in a common humanity bestowed by “the laws of Nature and Nature’s God.” It is protected by constitutional text: “equal protection,” “due process,” “privileges and immunities,” and “full faith and credit.” To replace constitutional guarantees of liberty with fiats of equal outcomes would require a scale and scope of government power wholly alien to the constitutional norms of the nation. Supreme Court Sides with Football Coach in Prayer Case by Katie Yoder at Catholic News Agency. “Here, a government entity sought to punish an individual for engaging in a brief, quiet, personal religious observance doubly protected by the Free Exercise and Free Speech Clauses of the First Amendment,” the court’s opinion by Justice Neil M. Gorsuch reads. “And the only meaningful justification the government offered for its reprisal rested on a mistaken view that it had a duty to ferret out and suppress religious observances even as it allows comparable secular speech.” “The Constitution neither mandates nor tolerates that kind of discrimination,” it continues. Justices John G. Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel A. Alito, and Amy Coney Barrett joined Gorsuch in the opinion. Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh also joined, except for one part (Part III–B). Thomas and Alito filed concurring, or agreeing, opinions. Read

The Catholic School by The Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education on March 19, 1977. To carry out her saving mission, the Church uses, above all, the means which Jesus Christ has given her. She also uses other means which at different times and in different cultures have proved effective in achieving and promoting the development of the human person. The Church adapts these means to the changing conditions and emerging needs of mankind. In her encounter with differing cultures and with man’s progressive achievements, the Church proclaims the faith and reveals “to all ages the transcendent goal which alone gives life its full meaning.” She establishes her own schools because she considers them as a privileged means of promoting the formation of the whole man, since the school is a center in which a specific concept of the world, of man, and of history is developed and conveyed.
